Our next visit is to the Orchard Nursery located at The Serge Hill Project to hear about the work of Sunnyside Rural Trust, to meet the trainees and see their propagation unit. Sunnyside gives horticultural training to vulnerable young people, who learn to propagate and grow perennials from Tom Stuart-Smith’s extensive Plant Library. They grow up to 70,000 plants each year and they have been used in Tom’s and other top designer’s show gardens. A range of desirable plants from the library will be available to buy, ready for autumn planting.
